Meant to send this out on my actual birthday, but at the pace I’ve been keeping up with this blog, I’m not surprised that even this is a little late.

Tuesday marked 34 years around the sun. I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone that has reached out with well wishes. I’ve become more of a “recluse” over the years, and I’m always surprised when I see the number of old and new friends that take the time to reach out year after year.

If I’m being honest, most years the well-wishes feel undeserved. Many of you know that my mother died in December of 2019 & since then for some reason I haven’t really been able to fully get back to my old self. The more social Tim that would start conversations with old friends, or would help plan a hang of some kind. It takes so much effort nowadays to send that first message or to make that phone call. If you are connected with me somehow and have come across this, even if I haven’t reached out over the years, know that I really do appreciate the impact that you have had on my life.

A little life update: This year Ashton and I welcomed our son into this world. Balancing a household with a now 5 month old and a 6 year old has been a whole new set of lessons to learn, but things have been going well. I’ve also started working from home full time, which the pet’s seem to appreciate. These new changes have made aspirations of incorporating more writing and reading into my life more of a challenge, but I’m trying to make strides to get back to it. I’ll have to start with a new book. I’m sorry, but I’m currently halfway through Chuck Palahniuk’s Haunted, and I cannot begin to describe how bored I am with it.

I’ve got a few posts in the tank that I’ve started and stopped for various reasons and I’m excited to share those thoughts and ramblings for those who care to learn about them. Lately, my interested have been in more free/ open source alternatives to paid software, personal data privacy, self-hosting services, and ways to recycle the plethora of computers that are being thrown away thanks to Microsoft’s recent retiring of Windows 10. If any of those topics interest you, I hope you’ll stick around.
